Minimalist oversized graphic tee by House of Swoon

Buying an oversized tee online is easier than buying fitted clothes, but it still helps to know what to expect. This guide explains how our tees are cut, gives you the complete size chart from XS to 4XL, and shows you a two minute method for picking a size with confidence.

How our tees are cut

Every House of Swoon tee uses the same cut: oversized, drop shoulder and unisex, made in 220 to 250 GSM cotton. GSM stands for grams per square metre and it describes fabric weight. A heavier cotton hangs with more structure and feels more substantial than a light, thin tee, which is why oversized styles tend to look better in mid to heavy weights.

Drop shoulder means the shoulder seam sits lower on your arm than on a regular tee. That seam position is part of what creates the relaxed, boxy look, and it is also why the “across shoulder” measurement in our chart is bigger than you might expect.

The full size chart

These are our measurements in inches for each size. We offer eight sizes, XS to 4XL, in one unisex cut.

Measurements are taken flat on the garment, so allow for small variation between pieces. If you are between two values, the “How to choose” section below will help you decide.

How to measure a tee you already own

The most reliable way to pick a size is to compare our chart with a tee you already love. It takes two minutes.

  1. Lay your favourite tee flat on a bed or table and smooth out the wrinkles.
  2. Measure straight across the chest, from one armpit seam to the other, and double the number. That is the chest measurement.
  3. Measure from the highest point of the shoulder or collar seam straight down to the hem. That is the front length.
  4. Measure across the back from one shoulder seam to the other. That is the across shoulder.
  5. Find the size on our chart whose numbers are closest to the tee you love, and check that the length and shoulder feel right for you.

If you do not have a tee that fits the way you like, use a tape measure on your own body: chest at the fullest point, and length from the base of your neck to where you would like the hem to end.

How to choose your size

For the intended oversized look: start with the size you normally wear. The cut is already loose and boxy, so most people do not need to size up.

For a slightly more relaxed, less dramatic fit: consider going one size down. You keep the drop shoulder but with less volume through the body.

For an extra baggy, streetwear silhouette: go one size up. Check the front length first, because a longer hem changes how the outfit looks with trousers and shorts.

If you are between sizes: choose based on the measurement that matters most to you. If you want a longer body, follow the length. If you want less volume across the chest, follow the chest number.

Fit by body type

A broader chest and shoulders will make the tee sit closer through the upper body, so the length and sleeve numbers are the ones to compare. A narrower frame will feel more draped, and the tee can look great on a smaller build when the sleeves are cuffed once. Taller people should look at front length first, since the longest hem in our range is 31 inches in 4XL. If you are shorter and want a cleaner hem line, a smaller size in the range is usually the neater choice.

Sleeve and shoulder notes

Sleeve length runs from 7.75 inches in XS to 9.25 inches in 4XL, so the sleeve ends around the upper arm on most people. If the shoulder seam sits a little lower than expected, that is the drop shoulder doing its job and not a fitting issue.

Will the tee shrink?

Cotton can tighten slightly after its first few washes, especially if it is washed hot or dried on a high heat. Washing cold and drying flat or on a low setting keeps the fit consistent. Our help page covers shipping, exchanges and returns.

Exchanges and returns

If the size is not right, you can raise a return or exchange from the return page on our site. Details on timelines and conditions are in the returns section of our help centre, so please read them before you order.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have sizes above XL?

Yes. We go up to XXL, 3XL and 4XL in the same oversized unisex cut, so the fit stays consistent across the range.

What size should I order if I want a fitted look?

These tees are designed to be oversized, so a fitted result is not their strength. If you want a snugger feel, drop one size and check the chest number against a tee you already wear.

Is the size chart for men or women?

Neither. It is one unisex chart, so use the measurements rather than the label.
